ALBANY, NY (09/09/2011)(readMedia)-- On Sunday September 11th, 2011 WAMC Northeast Public Radio will feature special programming to honor those who lost their lives and loved ones in the terrorist attacks ten years ago.
Beginning with Weekend Edition Sunday from 9 a.m to 11 a.m., NPR will provide coverage of the anniversary events with host Audie Cornish. Cornish will be joined by Robert Siegel at the World Trade Center site in New York, Tom Bowman at the Pentagon, and John Ydstie in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Robert, Tom, and John reported from those sites in the days following the attacks, and they will guide us through the 10th anniversary events at each location.
Midday Magazine Sunday host Bob Barrett will be joined by our reporters live, as they report from the field on the events taking place around our listening area. Dave Lucas will be in New York City for the memorial; in the North Country, Pat Bradley will be in Burlington VT for the Moment of Remembrance; Paul Tuthill is attending events in Springfield MA; and Patrick Donges will be covering services in Pittsfield MA. We'll continue our coverage by hearing personal accounts from Albany High School students, and also interviews on how far we've come as a nation in ten years.
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. we'll have a full reflection of the day's events with an elongated Weekend All Things Considered hosted by Guy Raz. He will be joined by several NPR correspondents and guests to report and reflect on the day.
To close our day of September 11th remembrance, NPR will provide anchored coverage of A Concert for Hope, which will be held at The Kennedy Center between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. President Obama will speak during the concert, which will also feature performances by Patti Labelle, Alan Jackson and Denyce Graves.
