Shiloh Soldier retires from the Illinois National Guard

SPRINGFIELD, IL (05/06/2013)(readMedia)-- Command Sgt. Maj. Lew Alba of Shiloh received his retirement certificate and a commemorative flag from Brig. Gen. Johnny Miller of Tamms, Illinois National Guard Assistant Adjutant General-Army, at Camp Lincoln in Springfield, May 5. Alba is retiring with approximately 33 years of military service.
Alba enlisted in the active duty Army in October 1976 and served seven years. In 1986 he joined the Hawaii National Guard and later transferred to the Illinois National Guard in February 2000. He deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in 2005 to 2006 and recently returned from the Bilateral Embedded Staff Team A9 deployment to Afghanistan in 2012.
As a civilian, Alba works as a federal employee for the Defense Information Systems Agency Continental United States as a telecommunications engineer.
