Shreveport Native Clair Carter Receives James Edward Oglethorpe Award from Oglethorpe University

ATLANTA, GA (06/28/2012)(readMedia)-- Clair Carter, a religious studies major, received the esteemed James Edward Oglethorpe Award at Oglethorpe University's commencement ceremony in May 2012. These awards are presented annually to the man and woman in the graduating class who, in the opinion of the faculty, have excelled in both scholarship and service.

While attending the university, Carter was an Oglethorpe University Civic Engagement Scholar and was a member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and the Oglethorpe University Honor Council. In April she received the Mary Mildred Sullivan Award, Oglethorpe's inaugural presentation of the national honor. Carter has been admitted to the Emory Candler School of Theology for graduate studies and plans to become a missionary.
