CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (03/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Human Resources professionals and corporate management now have help developing future women leaders within their organizations.

Skywalk Group, a professional services firm specializing in talent placement, human resources consulting, and organizational development, will conduct a series of workshop programs specifically tailored to meet the needs of career-minded women beginning April 21. The Leadership and Development for Women Workshop is designed for women in need of training and techniques necessary to navigate upper management business environments and advance their careers.

"Women remain underrepresented in the executive ranks of companies. They face different challenges than male counterparts and superiors," commented Mindy Seiffert, Client Consultant with Skywalk Group and the instructor of the workshop. "In addition, women may make tradeoffs that provide personal fulfillment yet inhibit their growth and ascension in the workplace." These tradeoffs can present significant challenges in traditional male-dominated fields especially. A December 2010 survey by Catalyst, Inc. indicates that only 2.4% of Fortune 500 CEOs are women even though women comprise 46.8% of the total workforce.

Seiffert developed the training material for the workshop having spent much of her career in leadership roles and working closely with executive teams. She holds a Masters in Business Administration and is an Adjunct Professor with Mount Mercy College.

The Leadership and Development for Women Workshop will take place at Skywalk Group's Training and Development Center on April 21, May 12, June 2, and June 23. Each session will begin at 8:30am and conclude at 12:30pm. Additional e-learning sessions (up to four) are included with the program; content will vary according to the needs of each participant.

The program is designed to bring about significant personal behavioral change. Engaged and committed participants will receive classroom instruction followed by real-world application of the themes within their own work environment. Theory and application are subsequently discussed and lessons fine-tuned during one-on-one e-learning sessions. Participants may then advance to the next stage of material delivered within the classroom, repeating the cycle. Small class size encourages networking and role playing.

The program is broken into four main parts: Leadership Essentials, Communication Essentials, Goal Setting, and Providing Performance Feedback. Outcomes of attendance include:

  • Improved communication with peers and superiors
  • Setting strong examples to mentor and develop others
  • Improved productivity, greater motivation and personal ownership

Persons interested in learning more or registering for the program should call 319-743-9830 or visit http://bit.ly/fs0pF9. Seating is limited so registration by April 14 is encouraged. Program investment is $995.
