COLCHESTER, VT (05/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Natasha Skrzypek, daughter of Frank and Barbara Skrzypek of Southampton was recognized for her service to students and Saint Michael's College with a Reverend Gerald E. DuPont Award given by the SMC Class of 2011 Ms. Skrzypek graduated from Saint Michael's with a Bachelor of Arts in biology in ceremonies May 16, 2011, held on the campus of the liberal arts residential Catholic college located in the Burlington area of Vermont..
The DuPont Award is given to a person who "demonstrates dedication to the ideals of courage, vision, devotion and faith upon which Saint Michael's College was founded . . . in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Saint Michael's community.
James Wall, a 1974 graduate of Saint Michael's, and now global managing director of human resources for Deloitte Touche Tomatsu, a multinational corporation with 2,000 partners and over 100,000 employees, was the featured speaker at the Saint Michael's College 104th commencement. "The value of a liberal-arts education at Saint Michael's College has never been more relevant than it is today – never," he declared. "My Saint Michael's experience taught me how to learn. Nothing is more important in today's world." Wall served on the college's board of trustees for 12 years, four of those as chairman. Some 435 undergraduates received bachelor's degrees at the ceremony as well as 95 graduate students who earned master's degrees.
Natasha Skrzypek wins DuPont Award
Natasha Skrzypek was cited by her classmates for her three years as an officer on the Saint Michael's College Rescue Squad, going from Clerk to First Lieutenant and finally to Captain of the squad. "One cannot begin to describe the countless lives she has impacted through her care to both patients in the ambulance and the people who know her best," said Brittany Richardson, SMC student association president. "Saint Michael's is proud of you Natasha," said Richardson, "there is no doubt in anyone's mind that you will continue to grow and to change the lives of all that you meet in your adventures to come."
