Springfield Soldier awarded Army Commendation Medal
SPRINGFIELD, IL (11/02/2018) (readMedia)-- Cpt. Travis Hilligoss, of Springfield, Illinois, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal during a ceremony on Nov. 1 at Camp Lincoln, Springfield, Illinois.
Hilligoss was nominated for the award by Col. Joseph Schweickert, Chief of Staff, Illinois Army National Guard.
"Captain Hilligoss's initiative, innovative thinking and leadership helped ensure success of the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team's Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) rotation. His service established a remarkable example for Soldiers and Commissioned Officers to emulate," said Schweickert.
Maj. Gen. Michael Zerbonia, Assistant Adjutant General-Army, Illinois National Guard, presented the award to Hilligoss during the ceremony. Zerbonia stressed the important role of planners like Hilligoss in ensuring the success of the JRTC training rotation.
