MILWAUKEE, WI (07/19/2012)(readMedia)-- Nadia Hallaj, daughter of Patty Hallaj, was honored with the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Research Award from Marquette University's Department of Biological Sciences. Hallaj graduated in May with a bachelor of science in biochemistry and molecular biology.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement in research by a junior or senior majoring in the biological sciences department. The award committee selects the winner from nominations of students who have displayed talent for research, including initiative, independence, and the ability to design and carry out experiments on their own, and from an abstract submitted by the student. Hallaj conducted her research with Krassimira Hristova, assistant professor of biological sciences.
A plaque listing former recipients' names is on permanent display in the biological sciences department. A separate plaque is presented to the student together with a monetary award of $200.
