Stanly County Native to Get Second Star Saturday in New London

RALEIGH, NC (03/11/2011)(readMedia)-- Albemarle native Brig. Gen. Robert M. Stonestreet will be promoted to the rank of major general during a ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the New London Air National Guard Station, 39471 Hercules, Drive, New London, N.C. With this promotion, Stonestreet will assume the duties of Air National Guard Assistant to the commander, U.S. Air Force Space Command, headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colo., effective May 14. Stonestreet is only the third North Carolina Air National Guard officer to achieve the rank of major general.
