State DOT Sets Hearing On Olean Rail Crossing Modification

April 16th Hearing to Focus on Proposed Changes to the North Union Street Rail Crossing, City of Olean, Cattaraugus County

ALBANY, NY (03/18/2014)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in Room 119 at the City of Olean Municipal Building, 101 East State Street, Olean, NY 14760 regarding a request by the City of Olean to modify the North Union Street public at-grade rail crossing. NYSDOT Chief Administrative Law Judge Robert A. Rybak will preside over the hearing, which will begin at 9:00 a.m.

The City of Olean is planning to change North Union Street from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction. If the request is approved, cantilevered overhead signals at the rail crossing will be removed and new crossing gates and flashers will be installed. This hearing will establish a record upon which a determination will be made as to what, if any, modifications concerning this crossing should be taken at this time.

Parties are requested to advise the Office of Proceedings (518-457-1182) if a sign language interpreter, an assistive listening system or any other accommodations will be required to facilitate participation in this hearing.
