ALBANY, NY (06/29/2012)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 24, beginning at 11 a.m. in Babylon, Suffolk County, regarding the county's request to modify an existing at-grade crossing over the Long Island Railroad tracks on Wellwood Avenue in Babylon.
NYSDOT Acting Chief Administrative Law Judge Robert A. Rybak will preside over the hearing at the Babylon Town Hall, Supervisor's Conference Room, 200 East Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst, NY 11757. The NYSDOT case number for the request is 38625.
Suffolk County requested the hearing because it is proceeding with a capacity and safety improvement project at the intersections of County Route 3 (Wellwood Avenue) with Long Island Avenue and Conklin Street. This project will modify the two intersections into a single intersection. The hearing will establish a record and enable a determination as to whether a rail crossing modification is in the best public interest.
Please contact NYSDOT's Office of Proceedings (518-457-1182) if a sign language interpreter, an assistive listening system or any other accommodations will be required to facilitate participation in this hearing.
Parties planning to attend this hearing should confirm the day before the hearing that it has not been adjourned, especially in case of inclement weather, by calling the Office of Proceedings or going to NYSDOT's website at https://www.nysdot.gov/divisions/legal-services-division/hearing-notices.
