NEW YORK, NY (09/21/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Insurance Department has stationed the agency's Mobile Command Center (MCC) in Queens to assist consumers with insurance questions they may have following last week's wind storm that caused extensive damage in the New York metropolitan area.

The MCC is being stationed at Queens Boulevard and 69th Road in Forest Hills. The unit will be staffed by personnel from the Department's Consumer Services Bureau from 4 to 9 p.m., today; from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Friday; and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday.

"We are here to help. The MCC is an important resource consumers can rely on to help them recover from this disaster. They should feel to use this resource to get answers to their questions, when they need help filing claims or if they are unable to resolve a dispute with their insurance company," Insurance Superintendent James Wrynn said.

"In addition to the MCC, consumers in Queens and in other areas affected by the wind storm should feel free to use the Department's toll-free Disaster Hotline if they need help. The hotline, 1-800-339-1759, will be staffed from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday."

Detailed insurance information is also available at the "Homeowners' Resource Center" on the Insurance Department's website, www.ins.state.ny.us.
