State Fair Ribbons Given To Top Chicken Callers

DES MOINES, IA (08/13/2022) (readMedia)-- Karee Hodge of Eldridge won first place in the Ladies Chicken Calling Contest judged Thursday, August 11, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Julie McMichael of Truro each earned second place. Kristen Massa of Bondurant and Molly Crock of Mechanicsville tied for third place.

Augie Schachtner of Des Moines claimed first place honors in the Youth Rooster Crowing Contest.

Kate Weldon of Knoxville and Henry McMichael of Truro both were awarded second place. Ryan Barton of West Des Moines took third place.

The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons are awarded to each class.
