State and National Labor Leaders to Campaign for Iowa Women Candidates

Women leading the largest labor unions in America and Iowa will canvass for an all-woman Democratic slate this Sunday

DES MOINES, IA (08/31/2016)(readMedia)-- Lily Eskelsen Garcia, president of the National Education Association, (NEA) the nation's largest union and Tammy Wawro, president of the Iowa State Education Association, one of the state's largest unions will be door knocking in Cedar Rapids on Sunday, September 4, on behalf of pro public education women candidates running for office.

Eskelsen Garcia and Wawro represent a new diverse leadership in labor and are supporting an all-female slate in the Cedar Rapids area.

"So many labor victories throughout history helped women reach the positions we are in today. What better way to celebrate Labor Day Weekend than to support an all-female slate with an all-female slate? "We are proud to walk with these women today and every day as they support our students, our schools and working families." said Wawro.
