in support of Iowa Safe Schools and the Governors Conference on LGBTQ Youth

DES MOINES, IA (03/02/2016)(readMedia)-- "We believe that every student – regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity – is entitled to a great public school. No student should have to live in fear or endure harassment or isolation during the school day. Students perform at their best within a safe and supportive environment in our schools and communities. Iowa Safe School's Governors Conference on LGBTQ Youth offers students, parents and schools the tools they need to learn and live in a safe and open environment. The statistics for suicide, homelessness and bullying are dangerously high in the LGBTQ youth population. We must continue our efforts to care for, nurture and support every student who walks through the doors of our schools,"
