Statement by Iowa State Education Association President Tammy Wawro on the
National Education Association's recommendation of Hillary Clinton
DES MOINES, IA (10/09/2015)(readMedia)-- "In her campaign stops in Cornell and Council Bluffs this week, Secretary Clinton proved once again why she is the National Education Association's (NEA) recommended candidate for the Democratic primary for President. Clinton pledged she will listen and respect educators in the classroom and do everything she can to make students a priority. The Iowa State Education Association (ISEA) supports her experience and leadership and knows she can get the job done." Background: The National Education Association's (NEA) Fund for Children and Public Education and the NEA Board of directors made up of association members from across the country voted recently to recommend Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary for President of the United States.
Based on her long history in support of children, public schools and her past voting record, association members -- who are elected to make decisions on behalf of membership -- decided she was the best choice to represent the association. The NEA represents more than 3 million professional educators across the country. The ISEA is a state affiliate of the NEA and represents more than 34,000 professional educators in Iowa.
