Statement by NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento on the Public Policy Institute's Workers' Compensation Report

ALBANY, NY (10/31/2012)(readMedia)-- We can never lose sight of the fact that the Workers' Compensation system was created to protect injured workers whose employers often shirked responsibility for their care. Calls to retreat from the 2007 reforms thereby allowing benefits to languish once again, while diminishing injured workers' rights is simply not acceptable. The labor movement will not allow injured workers or the system that provides their care and economic wellbeing to be undermined.
