ALBANY, NY (05/31/2011)(readMedia)-- In response to New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's announcement today that the state intends to sue the federal government for its failure to study gas drilling by means of hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking," Environmental Advocates of New York released the following statement:
"The federal government's stubborn refusal to conduct the legally required assessment of the environmental impacts of industrial gas drilling in the Delaware River Basin threatens the health, safety and environment of New Yorkers as well as New York City's water supply. Environmental Advocates of New York applauds Attorney General Schneiderman for bringing this lawsuit, and fighting to uphold the law and protect our drinking water and communities from fracking."
