ALBANY, NY (09/14/2011)(readMedia)-- State Parks stands ready to honor the existing contract for the facility, and we ask the developers of Trump On the Ocean to do the same.
In 2008, the State and the consultants for Trump On the Ocean had conceptually approved a design that would have met existing building safety codes for an ocean-front catering facility. Had Trump on the Ocean taken action then, the facility could have been operating by now, benefiting park visitors and hundreds of employees. Instead, the project has been halted by expensive court actions, all initiated by Trump On the Ocean.
State Parks remains ready to approve a building design that complies with the terms of the Trump On the Ocean agreement, which runs through 2047. The events of three weeks ago – the restaurant location was washed over by flood waters during Hurricane Irene – underscores the State's belief that the facility design must meet building safety requirements for new construction in sensitive flood prone locations.
