Sterling Native enlists in Illinois Army National Guard
SPRINGFIELD, IL (03/30/2018) (readMedia)-- Springfield, Ill. – Pvt. Liam Estes, of Sterling, Illinois, was sworn into the Illinois Army National Guard March 23, at the Chicago Military Entrance Processing Station.
Estes enlisted as an 11C, Indirect Fire Infantryman, and is assigned Company C, Recruit Sustainment Program in Machesney Park, Illinois.
Upon completion of his initial training, Estes will be assigned to Troop B, 2nd Squadron, 106th Cavalry Regiment.
Estes is a Junior at Sterling High School, Sterling, Illinois.
After successfully completing his training, Estes will be eligible for the Illinois National Guard Grant, which pays 100 percent of college tuition while he works as a full-time student and a part-time Soldier. He will also be eligible for the Select Reserve G.I. Bill and federal tuition assistance.
Staff Sgt. Bobby Kibodeaux of Company C, congratulated Estes and welcomed him into the Illinois Army National Guard.
