ALTOONA, PA (11/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Steven Brown, Mill Creek, PA, was one of four Penn State Altoona students to win a $2500 Penn State scholarship in the first ever Penn State Altoona Business Case Competition.

The competition was held November 4 - 5, 2011, and was sponsored by the Hite Company, an electrical industry company that started in Altoona, PA, in 1949.

The case used at the competition was developed by the Business Case Competition Advisory Board and was based on an existing opportunity at The Hite Company. Eight teams, comprised of four students each, spent twenty-four hours preparing a solution to the case and presenting that solution. Team members then participated in two ten-minute sessions with the judges: one featuring a question-and-answer format and the other focused on feedback. The criteria for judging included overall performance and quality of analysis, presentation, and the question-and-answer session.

Each member of Brown's team, Seal Team Six, received $2500 and the four members of the second place team each were awarded a $1000 Penn State scholarship thanks to the generous philanthropy of The Hite Company.
