BOSTON, MASS (06/15/2010)(readMedia)-- Subaru owners have a new, free way to personalize their cars and highlight the things they love, thanks to the Subaru Badges of Ownership program. Available to all Subaru owners, the new merit badges allow drivers to share their passions and customize their vehicles.
The badges include a Subaru loyalty badge that displays how many Subarus the driver has owned. From there, owners can choose iconic badges designed by Subaru that reflect personal interests. A dozen badges are currently available, including ones relating to winter sports, animals, music and arts. A 100,000 mile badge is available for those with Subarus that have passed the test of time.
"We have always believed that buying a Subaru is a lifestyle choice, not just a car choice, and we are happy to see Subaru rewarding its customers for their sense of adventure and individuality," said David Vernet, General Manager of Greater Boston Subaru dealer North Reading Subaru. "We strive to find the Subaru that fits our customers' lifestyles, whether they're cruising the roads around Boston or heading into the woods of Maine for skiing and hiking. The new badges let these drivers tell the world why they chose a particular Subaru."
Each lifestyle badge features a silver icon on a lined black and silver background, while the Subaru loyalty badge has a white number against a blue background. The badges lock together to form a bar and can be mounted directly beneath the Subaru name on most vehicles.
The Subaru icons use simple, international-style designs, allowing other drivers to instantly recognize their meaning. Some icons, such as cycling, winter sports and outdoor sports, would be equally at home in an Olympic village as on the back of a Subaru.
"Bumper stickers are an endangered species in Massachusetts, but our customers still want to express themselves with their cars," Vernet said. "Subaru has once again shown that they are a forward-thinking car company by offering their customers a modern, eclectic way to be themselves."
Owners of Subaru cars can order as many of the lifestyle badges as they wish. Subaru plans to offer additional badges in the future, and the company is asking Subaru owners to provide their suggestions for upcoming designs.
The badges can be ordered for free at the Badge of Ownership site, but there's a catch: you need to provide a valid Subaru VIN number to receive them. Each badge is designed to adhere easily to metal surfaces and includes complete instructions for mounting.
