DELHI, NY (06/22/2013)(readMedia)-- \SUNY Delhi invites community members to enjoy a special gourmet dinner on Saturday, June 29, and help support Culinary Arts student Alexis Chamoff in her quest to become the American Culinary Federation (ACF) National Student Chef of the Year. The evening begins with a reception at 5:30 and dinner at 6 p.m. in the college's Alumni Hall Hospitality Center.

Chamoff will prepare her appetizer, entrée and dessert that she will present at the National Student Chef of the Year competition next month in Las Vegas. The ACF's Student Chef of the Year recognizes an up-and-coming student who possesses a high degree of professionalism, culinary skill, and passion for the culinary arts. This is the third time a SUNY Delhi student has earned a trip to the national championship

Chamoff is obtaining her bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts Management at SUNY Delhi. Her culinary interest started at a young age when she would help her brother cook dinners inspired by the Food Network channel.

Chamoff has won two gold medals for her hot-food displays in ACF-sanctioned competitions. She apprenticed for the 2012 SUNY Delhi hot food team, which won the ACF national title. Delhi's hot food team also won the ACF national title in 2010. Delhi has unparalleled status as the only college in New York State to ever win the ACF national team championship.

Seating is limited to 40 participants. Reservations are required and the cost is $40 per person with payment in advance. Selections from the Signatures by Candlelight wine list will be included. Donations to assist Chamoff's participation in the national competition will also be accepted.
