BROOKLYN, NY (01/27/2026) (readMedia)-- Today, Kings County Supreme Court Judge Matthew D'Emic will decide whether or not to vacate convicted child rapist Nechemya Weberman's sentence. In November, DA Gonzalez signaled his support for a reduction in the sentence of Nechemya Weberman, a prominent figure in the ultra-Orthodox Satmar community who was originally sentenced to 103 years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing a 12-year-old. Gonzalez also sent former Governor Andrew Cuomo a formal request to commute Weberman's sentence on Cuomo's last day in office. The judge is expected to issue a ruling today.
Asher Lovy, Director of ZA'AKAH and survivor, will be at Kings County Supreme Court and available to speak to the media about why survivors are advocating for Weberman to stay in prison.
