HALFMOON, NY (10/30/2008)(readMedia)-- County clerks from all 10 counties within the 20th Congressional District have unanimously thrown their support behind Sandy Treadwell for Congress. Treadwell, who served as New York Secretary of State from 1995-2001, is the Republican, Independence and Conservative Party candidate for the 20th CD.
"Sandy Treadwell will go to Congress to fight for the people of upstate New York and will not allow special interests to dictate his values." Saratoga County Clerk Kathy Marchione said. "Congress needs to start working towards solutions to fix the economy, reduce excessive government spending, and make America energy independent. Sandy is an experienced leader, a good man and a person we can trust to do what's right in Washington."
Columbia County Clerk Holly Tanner said, "I am so pleased to support someone like Sandy Treadwell. I have known Sandy for several years, he is not a ‘career politician,' he is not taking money from special interest groups; he is a true public servant who takes the time to listen and talk to the residents of this district. We must have walked the dairy barns at the Columbia County Fair for over six hours, meeting with the farmers to hear their concerns. I also appreciate the fact that Sandy is such a strong supporter of 2nd amendment rights and that he took such a strong position against licensing illegal aliens. These are issues that I feel strongly about as a public servant myself. We need true representation of the people in this district, not someone who is just talking the talk."
Greene County Clerk Mike Flynn said, "Since Sandy started his run for Congress his message to the citizens of the 20th Congressional District has been ‘Congress is broken.' Recent events have proven his statement to be true. Sandy has set out specific policies on the issues that desperately need to be addressed such as the economy, energy, wasteful spending, veterans issues, immigration, homeland security and local issues that affect the this district. Sandy has the ethics, background and leadership to immediately start to fix the problems and make life better for us and our children here in Greene County."
Warren County Clerk Pamela Vogel said, "I first met Sandy Treadwell when he was serving as Secretary of State and was meeting with local officials and those of us involved with government record-keeping. I was impressed with him then because of the comfort in which he spoke to us and his willingness to listen to our questions and concerns. He is approachable and will, without question, serve our district well."
Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall stated, "Dutchess County needs a voice in Congress who will represent the county with distinction. With his strong record of accomplishment and his commitment to New York, Sandy Treadwell's is that voice."
Rensselaer County Clerk Frank Merola said, "I am honored to offer my endorsement of Sandy Treadwell for Congress. Sandy is an extremely dedicated public servant and I cannot think of a more qualified candidate to represent the people of the 20th Congressional District."
Essex County Clerk Joseph Provoncha said, "Sandy Treadwell has been a huge influence in Essex County and in my career. I can think of no one better to serve the people of Essex County than Sandy Treadwell."
Delaware County Clerk Sharon A. O'Dell said, "Sandy Treadwell is a proven leader. When I was Deputy County Clerk and he was Secretary of State, Sandy was there for us. Whenever we had a question or a problem concerning matters such as notaries or certificates of incorporation, we did not hesitate to call him and ask for his help. He would do everything in his power to help us and was always easy to deal with. Sandy is an honest, soft-spoken gentleman with traditional values and proven leadership. I support Sandy Treadwell 100 percent."
Washington County Clerk Dona Crandall said, "Right now we are facing tough economic times and we need someone in Washington with the right type of experience to help our struggling economy turn the corner and head in the right direction. Sandy Treadwell is the right man for the job. He has the experience and character that will serve us well in Washington."
Otsego County Clerk Kathy Sinnott-Gardner said, "I honestly believe that Sandy Treadwell will never act in contradiction to what he believes to be right, regardless of the consequences and tough decisions he will have to make while in Washington. He has already said that he will never raise a tax and I believe he will live up to that pledge along with many others that are needed to help solve the problems our country now faces. I wholeheartedly support Sandy Treadwell for Congress and urge the people of the 20th Congressional District to join me in supporting him on November 4th."
Sandy Treadwell has pledged to vote against any bills that would raise taxes on individuals, families, or businesses; proposed a two-track energy plan to promote greater domestic energy production, including offshore drilling, and investment in alternative energy projects; and called for a one-year moratorium on earmarks to cut wasteful spending and redirect funds to states, including $1.28 billion to New York, to help them close unexpected budget gaps without raising taxes.
