CHICOPEE, MA (12/08/2009)(readMedia)-- Elms College freshman swimmer Tessa Dudunake of Northampton, Massachusetts was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the week of Nov. 30-Dec. 6 as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Dudunake was Elms' top performer during the 2009 GNAC Championships. On Day 1, she finished second 50-yard freestyle, setting a Blazers' school record in the process with a time of 26.09. On Day 2, Dudunake repeated her 26.09 in the 50-yard freestyle, and then recorded a pair of first place finishes (50-yard breaststroke and 100-yard IM). Dudunake recorded a time of 32.82 in the 50-yard breaststroke and then set a new GNAC Championship meet record in the 100-yard IM (1:06.16) which also stands as a new Simmons pool record. She was also part of two GNAC record-breaking relay teams (200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay) that recorded times of 2:01.28 and 3:56.40 respectively.
