"There's Nothing Butter" Than the Corndog Kickoff!

DES MOINES, IA (07/05/2011)(readMedia)-- The Blue Ribbon Foundation will host the fifteenth annual Corndog Kickoff Benefit Auction and Fair Food Grazing Party on Saturday, July 9 in the William C. Knapp Varied Industries Building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. to commence the celebration of 100 years of the butter cow. "There's Nothing Butter" than a night filled with exciting auction packages, entertainment and all of your favorite Fair foods, while helping to raise funds to restore the Iowa State Fairgrounds!

Since its inception in 1997, the Kickoff has raised over $2.1 million for Fairgrounds renovation. Last year's event drew a crowd of 1,200, raising over $227,000 in one night! All proceeds go toward the renovation and restoration of the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Highlights from this year's 31 live and 144 silent auction packages include:

• Three Ring Circus – Receive four reserved seats and a private tour at the Shrine Circus in the Jacobson Exhibition Center next spring. You'll even have the opportunity to be in the clowns' skit!

• There's Nothing Butter! – Enjoy all things butter with an original butter cow cartoon by Brian Duffy and have a hand in sculpting the tail of the 100th anniversary butter cow.

• My Kinda Party – Go backstage to meet Jason Aldean, Chris Young and Thompson Square and attend their sold-out concert on August 12 in great seats!

• Whoa! – Show in the Miniature Horse Color Class on Monday, August 15 at the Iowa State Fair. Before parading the horse around the ring, you can assist with the preparation and grooming.
