Thibodeau Named SCAC Player-of-the-Year; Lentz, Foster Earn Second Team Honors

GEORGETOWN, TX (11/01/2012)(readMedia)-- Senior outside hitter Rachel Thibodeau was announced as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Year and First Team All-SCAC on Wednesday afternoon.

Thibodeau was second in the SCAC in kills with 353 and kills per set at 3.30. She leads the Pirates in both categories and has a .198 attack percentage on the season. She is also third on the team in aces with 29 (.27 per set) and fourth in digs with 328 (3.07 per set).

This is the second consecutive year Thibodeau has earned a spot on the First Team All-SCAC.

Joining Thibodeau in the report were sophomore libero Chandler Lentz and first-year outside hitter Kaitlyn Foster. Lentz is second in the conference in digs with 554, averaging 5.08 per set. She is also tied for fifth in service aces, averaging .34 per set. Foster is third on the team in kills with 232, averaging 2.44 per set with a .178 attack percentage. She is also second in digs with 406, 4.27 per set.

Southwestern ended the regular season with a 22-10 overall record and were 7-3 in SCAC play. They enter the conference tournament this weekend as the number three seed, facing Centenary College on Friday at 2 p.m. in Colorado Springs, Colo.
