ALBANY, NY (11/03/2010)(readMedia)-- Hoffman Warnick LLC (HW), an intellectual property law firm headquartered in Albany, NY with another office in Rochester, NY, has released the Rochester Patent Index for Third Quarter 2010. The "Rochester Patent Index" includes data for Monroe and Ontario Counties with and without XEROX and KODAK.

In the third quarter, evidence of the Patent Office's attempts to attack their backlog continues to be evident in the very high patent issuances for all of Rochester. "The overall number of issuances continued to grow to record levels, with a slight decrease in the number of non-XEROX and non-KODAK patents. "I think this is a strong indicator of the region's underlying technology base" stated Michael Hoffman, partner at Hoffman Warnick. Hoffman added that "even though the non-XEROX/KODAK numbers were slightly off, the level of activity is still impressive, making up about 60% of the overall count. This result indicates that the Rochester area has a diverse base of innovation and significant investment in R&D."
