The New York State Thruway Authority/Canal Corporation and Congressman Paul Tonko will hold a public meeting to discuss design concepts for the Amsterdam Pedestrian Bridge on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. The meeting will be in the Lynch Middle School Cafeteria, 55 Brandt Place, Amsterdam.
The meeting will be conducted as an open house with a brief presentation on the design concepts developed for the project to date. Members of the New York State Thruway Authority/Canal Corporation Design Team will be available to discuss project specifics and to answer questions from the public.
Members of the media, including photographers, are invited to attend.
Directions to Lynch Middle School from the New York State Thruway Interchange 27 (Amsterdam, Route 30):
• Continue on Route 30 North (Market Street) to Bunn Street at the Stewart's Shop;
• Left on Bunn Street, past the traffic light at Glen Street;
• Bunn Street becomes Brandt Place. The school is on the left.
The New York State Canal Corporation is a subsidiary of the New York State Thruway Authority. State legislation in 1992 transferred the Canal System from the New York State Department of Transportation to the Thruway Authority. Canal operating and maintenance activities are supported by Thruway toll revenues.
