Tioga County Primary Election Proceeds
Owego Elementary School Polling Place to Move to Middle School
ALBANY, NY (09/12/2011)(readMedia)-- The State Board has the following statement:
"Despite challenging circumstances both the Tioga and Broome County Boards of Elections have reacted swiftly to adapt to a natural disaster to ensure that the Primary Election runs as smoothly as possible, under the present conditions. The State Board has offered help and guidance and the local boards have done their best to make the necessary changes under severe time pressures to move poll sites and achieve fair and accurate voting on election day," said Robert A. Brehm and Todd D. Valentine, Co-Executive Directors of the State Board of Elections.
In addition to the attached statement from the Tioga County Board concerning their actions, they have informed the State Board that:
"5. Voters registered as Republican in the town of Candor will decide among Charles W. Thayer, Wilam R. Siebert, David R. Redsicker and Robert P. Wilams for two positions as Republican Coroner. Voters wil additionally choose between Joseph E. Doty, Sr., and Darlene W. Cobler for one position for Town Supervisor. Voters should report to the site identified in the card mailed to them by the Board of Elections in August."
