NEW YORK, NY (05/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Join the American Lung Association and singer, actress and Tony Award Winner Anika Noni Rose in New York tomorrow for a 5K walk (3.1 miles) at Battery Park in New York City and help make a difference in the fight for healthy lungs and clean air!
Anika Noni Rose, the star of such Broadway shows as Caroline, or Change and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and hit films like Dreamgirls and Disney's The Princess and the Frog and most recently CBS's The Good Wife, suffers from asthma. Rose, who recently starred in the New York Philharmonic's all-star presentation of Company and will co-star in the film As Cool As I am, is helping the Lung Association raise awareness and funds to fight the disease by participating in the Fight For Air Walk.

WHAT: The Fight For Air Walk is sponsored by Teva Pharmaceuticals, Genentech, EveryoneBreathe.com, ABC Channel 7, Clear Channel Radio and the New York Post.
WHEN: Saturday, May 21. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the Walk starts at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Battery Park. Meet near Castle Clinton.
WHY: In New York, an estimated 2.5 million people suffer from lung diseases including asthma, lung cancer, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Walks are being held nationwide in an effort to bring attention to the devastating effects of lung disease. The proceeds from the Fight For Air Walk will support the American Lung Association in New York's research, education and advocacy programs.
