Utility work on overhead bridge in Bensalem Township to impact travel between Willow Grove and Delaware River Bridge.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (12/07/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276) between Willow Grove (Exit #343) and the Delaware River Bridge (Exit #359) to be prepared for bi-directional traffic paces with intermittent stoppages of up to 15 minutes Wednesday night (Dec. 8) from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

Starting at 10 p.m. the general contractor and Turnpike maintenance personnel will begin to slow traffic on the Turnpike mainline approximately 4.5 miles east (MP 358) and west (MP 348) of the overhead bridge that carries Galloway Road (SR 2023) across the Turnpike at milepost 353 in Bensalem Township, Bucks County.

Contractors for Comcast and Verizon will be pulling utility cables across I-276 and requires assistance from the Turnpike and the general contractor to conduct the traffic paces and stoppages of up to 15 minutes for protection of utility workers during the overhead bridge work.

Additionally, motorists entering the Turnpike system at Bensalem (Exit #351) and Street Road (Exit #352) intending to travel eastbound, should anticipate full traffic stoppages at the Bensalem Toll Plaza and at the on-ramp from Street Road (SR 132).

Motorists traveling westbound from the Delaware River Bridge should stay alert for slow moving or stopped traffic when approaching the Delaware Valley (Exit #358) Interchange. The work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled to the following night (Dec. 9).
