Two Events Wrap Up the Semester at UNM-Valencia

The New MexiChords will perform their spring concert at UNM-Valencia.

LOS LUNAS, NM (05/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Students, faculty, staff and members of the community are invited to two events that will celebrate the conclusion of the spring semester at UNM-Valencia Campus.

The first event is the Faculty and Staff Art Exhibit, which is on display until May 17 at the UNM-Valencia Fine Arts Gallery. The second event, scheduled for 7 p.m. on May 15th, is the Spring Concert season opener for the New MexiChords Barbershop Chorus.

Featuring patriotic songs and spoofing the election season, the New MexiChords will perform in the Student-Community Center. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door, or can be purchased in advance by calling Denise Sanchez at 925-8550. Proceeds from the concert will support student scholarships at UNM-Valencia.

The Faculty and Staff Art Exhibit is free to the general public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

This year's exhibit features works by Wayne Abraham, Toni Black, Celestyn M. Brozek, Michael Carriero, Michael Ceschiat, Regina Corritore, Val Garoza, Dubra Karnes-Padilla, Ronnie McComb, Chad Perry and Alexa Wheeler.

Both events are part of the Spring 2012 UNM-Valencia Cultural Enrichment Series. Both the Fine Arts Gallery and the Student-Community Center are located on the south side of the campus near the south parking lot.
