WESTMINSTER, MD (10/12/2012)(readMedia)-- An expert in cybersecurity, U.S. Army retired Major General David B. Lacquement of Alexandria, Va., speaks during SmartTALK at McDaniel College, Westminster, Md. The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 22.

Major General Lacquement recently retired from the United States Army where he served as J-3 director of operations for the United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM), Fort Meade, Md. There he was responsible for planning, executing, coordinating and managing the Department of Defense information networks and conducting full spectrum military cyberspace operations as directed by the United States Strategic Command.

He graduated from Western Maryland (now McDaniel) College in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in history and was a member of the Army ROTC Green Terror Battalion. He went on to earn master's degrees in Strategic Intelligence from the Joint Military Intelligence Training College, Military Art and Science from the United States Army Command and Staff College, and National Security Strategy Studies from the National Defense University.

McDaniel College's SmartTALK brings notable alumni back to campus for an on-stage conversation with president Roger N. Casey on their subject of expertise. The hour-long event also includes questions and answers from the audience.
