There's Still Time to Sign Up to Climb to the Top of the World Financial Center on November 21st

NEW YORK, NY (09/15/2010)(readMedia)-- The American Lung Association in New York announces Urban Athletics as a premier sponsor of the 2010 Fight For Air Climb being held in New York City on Sunday, November 21. The Fight For Air Climb challenges participants to reach the 40th floor of the World Financial Center – a total of 850 steps – to raise awareness about lung disease and raise funds to help the Lung Association save lives and improve lung health. The Fight For Air Climb is also being sponsored by Pfizer and the New York Health & Racquet Club. Brookfield Properties is hosting this premier event by generously donating their space at the World Financial Center.

"Urban Athletics is not only a running store but supports all forms of exercise for a healthier lifestyle," said Cara Macari, co-owner of Urban Athletics. "My husband Jerry and I are thrilled to lend our support to the American Lung Association in New York by serving as sponsors and fitness chairpersons of the Fight For Air Climb. This promises to be a challenging event for people of all fitness levels. But the most rewarding aspect of participating is knowing that we'll be helping support the many New Yorkers who suffer from lung diseases."

Urban Athletics is encouraging fitness enthusiasts and those who want to help fight lung disease to join their Climb Team. For participants forming their own teams, Urban Athletics is a preferred vendor for team t-shirts. For more information about ordering team t-shirts, email Urban Athletics at info@urbanathleticsnyc.com. Additionally, all registered climbers are eligible to receive a 15% discount on all dry wick apparel or 1 footwear item from now until October 31, 2010. The offer is valid at either the 2 World Financial Center or 1291 Madison Avenue location.

"There are more than 2.5 million New Yorkers who suffer from asthma and lung disease and our ability to serve them depends, in large part, on the support and generosity of the community," said Scott T. Santarella, President and CEO. "We are grateful to have the support of Urban Athletics and we encourage people all across the New York City metropolitan area and beyond to support this event by climbing, becoming a sponsor or making a donation."
