Voter Registration Deadline Nears for General Election, October 9th Last Day to Register

ALBANY, NY (10/08/2015)(readMedia)-- The State Board of Elections today reminds all state residents to register to vote for the November 3, 2015 general election. Mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked by midnight, Friday, October 9th and received no later than October 14th to be valid for the upcoming general election.Voters can contact their local board of elections for more information on what contests are on their ballot or check the State Board of Elections website: www.elections.ny.gov. Residents who have moved to a new county are reminded that they must re-register from their new address. Those who are currently registered and have moved to a new address in the same county should notify their county board of elections in writing of their move no later than October 14th.
In addition, if you are already registered and you wish to change your party membership for any of next year's primary elections your application must be received by this Friday.The New York State Voter Registration Form can be downloaded from our website: www.elections.ny.gov. Alternatively, if you have an established account at the Department of Motor Vehicles, you may register online at their "MyDMV" site (https://my.dmv.ny.gov/). You can also register or find forms at most state and federal government offices including post offices or public libraries.Persons who are unsure whether they are registered, or wish to verify their current address, may look-up their status at: https://voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us/votersearch.aspx. Persons wanting to register in person may do so at their
local county board of elections and at many state agency offices throughout the state, but must do so no later than October 9th, to be eligible to vote in the general election. However, new citizens and military voters have a later deadline.
