ALBANY, NY (03/28/2012)(readMedia)-- WAMC Northeast Public Radio will air a special broadcast in honor of bluesman Ernie Williams, featuring the most recent concert Ernie did at The Linda, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio. The special will air this Saturday, March 31st between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. This broadcast will include Ernie's last performance at The Linda February 4, 2012, the birthday celebration the entertainer held at WAMC each year, just one month before the celebrated bluesman passed away at the age of 87. Williams was a fixture at The Linda beginning in 2004, when he played the venue for the first time. You will also be able to access a photo gallery from our website.

The broadcast will include interview clips from Ernie's friends and musical collaborators, including longtime guitarist Mark Emanation, legendary Woodstock guitar slinger David Malachowski, WRGB's Greg Floyd and Alan Chartock, President and CEO of WAMC. Ray Graf, who will host the special broadcast, says, "Ernie was a friend of mine and really, he was a friend to everybody who played music or just loved listening to it."

"From the minute I got to WAMC, Ernie Williams was a friend, colleague and an inspiration to others," says Alan Chartock. "He always had a smile, he was a genius on the guitar and he was a great human being."

Ernie's birthday celebrations were an annual tradition of The Linda, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio for nearly a decade. These concerts show Ernie at the height of his powers and serves as a fitting portrait of an artist who transcended genre's and spoke to the hearts and souls of people of all ages and races.
