WAMC REACHES ITS $1.25 MILLION GOAL
ALBANY, NY (06/11/2026) (readMedia)-- WAMC/Northeast Public Radio has successfully achieved its goal of raising $1.25 million in its June 2026 Fund Drive as our community, staff and volunteers closed out a very successful spring campaign in just 7.5 days.
The drive continued WAMC's new fundraising model, which allows the station to reach its revenue goals while maintaining its regular programming schedule – keeping public media, independent journalism, and trusted information on air throughout the campaign.
Supporters responded with over 6,138 pledges, keeping the station listener- and community-supported. Award-winning news and community programming reaches parts of seven states and into Canada, while digital content serves audiences across the world.
"At a time when public media is at risk, we are grateful for our community and listeners for keeping WAMC strong – investing in not only securing its place in the Northeast, but also continuing to innovate to keep WAMC accessible to a broad community long into the future," said Sarah Gilbert, WAMC's President & CEO. "We continue to march on together in support of free speech and accessible and transparent journalism."
"Our members, listeners, community supporters, partners, underwriters, and donors are the heartbeat of our mission and they – once again – showed up in a huge way to collectively raise critical operating revenue for WAMC," added Lizzie Honan, chief development officer.
WAMC Fund Drives occur three times a year: in February, June, and October. The station's success would not be possible without the generous support of WAMC underwriters, sponsors, volunteers and members. It takes the entire community, and WAMC is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with its community partners. During this drive, WAMC featured the excellent work of the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Hudson Taconic Lands, and the Food Pantries for the Capital District.
The goal of every fund drive is to support the general operations of WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. WAMC broadcasts the highest-quality programs from NPR, American Public Media, PRX, and the BBC World Service, as well as a wide range of award-winning unique regional programming.
