Seven Walsh University students spent their Columbus Day fall break serving those in need in New York City. Organized by senior education major Mary Modena and led by Campus Minister Dominica Rhein, the trip included volunteer activities with the Catholic Worker in downtown Manhattan, the Lenox Hill Women's Shelter and New York Cares.
Volunteer projects included an outdoor harvest market for low-income residents in the Bronx through New York Cares and a large scale art project with the Lenox Hill Women's Shelter. The Walsh students also visited the Catholic Worker to learn more about the life of Dorothy Day and serve food to the homeless through the St. Joseph House.
