Waukegan native selected as Kemper Scholar

BELOIT, WI (04/26/2013)(readMedia)-- Waukegan native Katia Colin, a freshman from Beloit College, has been selected from a group of finalists for the incoming class of the prestigious Kemper Scholars Program.

She will receive annual scholarships of up to $10,000 based on need during her sophomore, junior and senior years of college, and she will receive stipends to cover the costs of her work as an intern in major non-profit organizaitons in Chicago during the summer following her sophomore year.

During the summer following her junior year, she will be eligible for summer stipends to cover the costs of a learning opportunity in an internship at a for-profit corporation. Each year she will also attend a national conference with past and current Kemper Scholars.

The mission of the Kemper Scholars Program is to prepare students for leadership and service, especially in the fields of organizational administration and business. Aiming to promote education in the liberal arts, the program provides students opportunities for career exploration and practical experience.
