Westmont native honored by Marquette University's Department of Social and Cultural Sciences

MILWAUKEE, WI (05/23/2013)(readMedia)-- MILWAUKEE –Erin Hastings, daughter of Kevin and Terese Hastings, was awarded the Anthropology Outstanding Student Award by Marquette University's Department of Social and Cultural Sciences. Hastings, of Westmont, Ill., graduated in May with a bachelor of arts in anthropology.

The award recognizes one graduating senior in the anthropology major who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and service, and engagement and dedication to the field of anthropology. The honoree also shows a keen understanding of anthropology's broad applications to the world and commitment to human diversity.

This award is competitive and is bestowed upon the one graduating senior who has maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and a 3.5 grade point average in their major classes. The student also demonstrates leadership qualities, contributes significant time and effort to service of the university and community, and possesses a commitment to and appreciation for diversity.
