ANNVILLE, PA (01/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Wig and Buckle Theater Company will present "Chicago," a tale of murder and deceit set in Prohibition-era Chicago, in the last two weeks of February.
Evening performances are Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17 and 18 at 8 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m.; and Thursday through Sunday, Feb. 23 through 26, at 8 p.m. The Feb. 19 and 25 performances are currently sold out. All shows are in the Leedy Theater of the Mund College Center. Tickets are free to LVC students; $12 for adults; $7 for non-LVC students and LVC faculty; $5 for children 10 and under; and $5 for seniors 60 and over.
Set in Chicago during the roaring 20s, "Chicago" tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in Cook County Jail. The musical is based on a play by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins of the Chicago Tribune. "Chicago" has won six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy, and thousands of standing ovations.
"Chicago" is directed by Andrew Ferrie '14 of Point Pleasant, N.J.. Alyson Reitmeyer '12 of Bechtelsville is the staging manager and Heather Smith '12 of Pottstown is the music director. The cast includes Laura Gingerich '13 of Harrisburg, Casey Goryeb '12 of Randolph, N.J., Eric Mansilla '12 of Hummelstown, Jenna Parrilla '14 of Hillsborough, N.J., Vicki Childers '13 of Aberdeen, Md., and Spenser Pritchard '14 of Dover, Del.
Wig and Buckle will also present Caryl Churchill's play, "Vinegar Tom," directed by Jenna Dutton '15, April 20–28.
