William James College Introduces Fourth Behavioral Health Service Corps Cohort

A local resident has joined the Behavioral Health Service Corps (BHSC) at William James College, a school of psychology in Newton MA. Now in its fourth cycle, the BHSC attracts emerging talent to work in behavioral healthcare, where there is a severe shortage of skilled workers. Scholars spend a year exploring both a career and a path to graduate school and becoming familiar with the work of behavioral healthcare, understanding the needs of different populations, and receiving mentoring to become professionals in this field. The mentoring component is provided by mental health professionals and William James College faculty. It is a transformational year for scholars to learn about their own interests, and make an informed decision about their career path in behavioral health.
