William Woods University Honors Samantha Bennett Polen with Green Owl Award

FULTON, MO (05/10/2011)(readMedia)-- Samantha Bennett Polen of Tulsa, Okla., was awarded the Green Owl Award during William Woods University's Alumni Weekend, April 15-17. The Green Owl Award is presented to alumni who have given years of service to the alumni association and the university.

Originally from Huntsville, Ark., Polen earned her bachelor of arts degree in business administration from William Woods in 1984, with minors in English and political science and a concentration in performing arts.

An active student, she was involved in Student Alumni Council, Chi Omega and theater productions. She was chosen as an Outstanding Student her sophomore and junior years, as well as Outstanding Greek.

Polen began her career in the financial services industry and is currently doing freelance e-marketing for a day spa, pet sitting for special needs animals and feline diabetic counseling.

She is the alumni coordinator for the Tulsa area, coordinating alumni gatherings, supporting the WWU Admissions Department and acting as a liaison between regional alumni and the university. She was the first alum asked to "pioneer" the program. Additionally, she has supported William Woods through the Tulsa Alumni Group, the referral of prospective students and serving as reunion coordinator for her 25th class reunion in 2009.
