FULTON, MO (05/09/2011)(readMedia)-- Nickol Enns Beckemeier of Rolla, Mo., has been named to the 2011 edition of "Who's Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges."
A December 2010 graduate of William Woods University, Beckemeier was one of 14 WWU students selected for Who's Who based on outstanding campus leadership.
Beckemeier, an English major, was also named Distinguished Scholar in English. The faculty of various disciplines at William Woods have the opportunity each spring to designate one graduating senior as a Distinguished Scholar. A minimum grade point average of 3.4 is required, but the faculty may consider other relevant academic factors and variables in the selection process.
A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the Who's Who students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
By being listed in "Who's Who," Beckemeier joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
Beckemeier was secretary of Sigma Tau Delta English honor society and a member of Omicron Delta Kappa service honorary and Writers' Ink. She was a head community advisor, an office assistant for Student Life and a student writer for both University Relations and the Talon campus newspaper. Her writing was also published in Novelletum, WWU's literary magazine.
