HOUGHTON, MI (05/10/2012)(readMedia)-- Alex Wright, a senior at Midland Dow High School, has received the Leading Scholar Award from Michigan Technological University. The award includes full tuition, room and board, and an annual stipend for four years.

More than 900 students, including 300 from out of state, submitted essays and application materials for the award. As a part of the selection process, approximately 40 finalists were invited to campus in early December for the final portion of the competition. At this time, students visited with University administrators, faculty, and students. Only three in-state students receive the full award, and twenty-seven other Michigan students will receive $8,000 per year.
