Yonkers Student Receives the Cardinal Cooke Memorial Award and Joseph McGoldrick Memorial Award in Biology

RIVERDALE, NY (05/20/2013)(readMedia)--  Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent is proud to announce Sandra Innabi has received the Cardinal Cooke Memorial Award. A biology major with a love of research, Innabi also received the Joseph McGoldrick Memorial Award in Biology. She received these awards during the 101st Baccalaureate Awards and Hooding Ceremony on Friday, May 17th 2013 and at the 101st Commencement on Saturday, May 18th 2013 before an audience of students, faculty, administrators, trustees, parents and honored guests.

During her time at the College, Innabi conducted research under the supervision of Dr. Janet Rollins on protein modification during late-stage sperm development. Innabi also completed her final honors thesis titled "Tooth Development: Neural Crest Migration and the Formation of the Human Face."

The Division of Natural Sciences Faculty describe Innabi as a consistently excellent biology student who is "curious, conscientious and intellectually courageous".

Dr. James Fabrizio, Associate Professor of Biology and Chair of the Health Professions Committee, shares that Innabi enlivens any science class she takes, and she is not afraid of the hard courses. He adds: "She even thrives on challenging herself."

Innabi been accepted to Tuft's University School of Dental Medicine where she will begin classes this fall.
