Zeldin Nabs NCISS Endorsement

MASTIC, NY (03/14/2008)(readMedia)-- The National Council of Investigation and Security Services endorsed the Republican candidate for New York's First Congressional District today, citing national security experience and knowledge of investigative and security professions as the impetus behind the support.

Lee Zeldin, the endorsed GOP candidate for the Eastern Long Island congressional district, hopes to champion the organization's most pressing issues after taking office.

"I'm honored and thrilled to receive this endorsement from a profession I hold in the highest regard," said Zeldin. "NCISS, an organization dedicated to the crucial mission of supporting the companies and organizations that provide private security and investigation services to the legal profession, deserves top-notch support from our elected officials."

The organization hailed Zeldin's military service and background as government prosecutor, and knowledge of the legal system as important factors in the endorsement.

"As a military veteran, government prosecutor, and most recently as counsel for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, he has first-hand experience that he can draw on to effectively represent his community," said Bruce Hulme the organization's legislative director said in a press release issued today. "(NCISS Legislative Committee representative Charles Eric Gordon) feels well assured that Mr. Zeldin will be an effective member of Congress who is also very knowledgeable of the investigative and security professions."

The organization looks to bring its nation-wide network of support to the First CD.

"I believe Lee Zeldin will also become such a legislator who we can also financially support and that we can count on to support our issues," said Hulme.

Zeldin served as an aide to State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle. The Shirley resident studied at the University at Albany, graduated from Albany Law School, and earned his commission through Army ROTC. He was a paratrooper, prosecutor and magistrate with the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corps. In the summer of 2006, he was a JAG attorney deployed to Iraq. He is currently an attorney at Raiser & Kenniff on Long Island.
