$10,000 Available for Non-Traditional Student Scholarships in Central Iowa

DES MOINES, IA (02/05/2024) (readMedia)-- DES MOINES, IA (01/22/2024) -- EWI® of Des Moines participates in the Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) program. For 2024, the chapter has up to $10,000 in scholarship funding to award. The ASIST Scholarship is a non-discriminatory, educational scholarship program for the benefit of non-traditional students pursuing an associate, bachelor or master's degree, or a technical/professional certificate. These include people who are:

• Already in the workforce and wanting to attend school to further their education or training

• Non-traditional students already enrolled in a college, university, or trade school program

• Already in the workforce and needing re-training due to changes in their workplace

• Non-traditional students wanting to begin a college or training program to join the workforce.

The chapter is looking for applicants who have clearly defined their educational goals and objectives and the path needed to attain their goals. Preference is given to those that demonstrate financial need; are socially, physically and/or economically disadvantaged; displaced and/or heads of household with small children or dependent adults. Scholarship awards range from $500 - $3000; seven scholarships were awarded in 2023.

Applicants for the Des Moines chapter's funding must legally reside within the EWI of Des Moines Chapter boundaries which include the following Iowa counties: Adair, Appanoose, Boone, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Greene, Guthrie, Hamilton, Hardin, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Polk, Ringgold, Story, Union, Wapello, Warren, Wayne or Webster.
