Ruth Ann Mohr Named Iowan of the Day
DES MOINES, IA (08/03/2026) (readMedia)-- The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are pleased to present Ruth Ann Mohr of Odebolt as a 2026 Iowa State Fair "Iowan of the Day" on Wednesday, August 19.
For a lifetime of caring for others, Ruth Ann has made an extraordinary difference in the Odebolt community. Whether serving as a nurse, supporting local organizations, or quietly helping neighbors in need, her compassion and generosity have touched countless lives.
After a 30-year career as a registered nurse, Ruth Ann continues to dedicate her time to serving others. She is a devoted blood donor, having donated more than 25 gallons throughout her lifetime, giving the gift of life to people she will likely never meet.
Ruth Ann also helps beautify Odebolt by planting and caring for flowers throughout the community at her own expense. She regularly runs errands for homebound residents, ensuring neighbors can remain connected and supported. Her servant's heart extends to her involvement with First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the local nursing home auxiliary, where she helps organize activities that enrich the lives of residents.
Ruth Ann is also an active volunteer for Odebolt's annual Creek Days celebration, where she raises funds for the community by sorting thousands of cans for recycling.
Through decades of selfless service, Ruth Ann has demonstrated the power of kindness, generosity, and community spirit. Her willingness to give of her time, talents, and resources has made Odebolt a better place to call home.
Ruth Ann will be recognized for her Iowan of the Day Award on the Iowa State Fair's Anne and Bill Riley Stage at noon on August 19. Along with being recognized she will receive, four admission tickets, four grandstand concert tickets, a VIP parking pass, hotel accommodations with the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, $200 cash, a golf cart for the day, and an Iowa State Fair Swag Bag.
The Iowan of the Day program, presented by the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation, recognizes outstanding Iowans who have made a positive difference in their communities through service, leadership, and dedication to others.
